VWL has two categories of membership: Ordinary membership and Associate membership. An Ordinary member is entitled to vote at meetings of VWL and to be elected to the Executive Committee and Sub-Committees.
An Associate member is not entitled to vote or to be elected to the Executive Committee or any Sub-Committee.
Ordinary Membership
Persons who are admitted to practice within Australia or the British Commonwealth or who are law graduates of an Australian university are eligible for Ordinary membership of the Association. The annual fee for Ordinary members is $71.50.
An Ordinary member, who is
a member of the Women Barristers Association; or
employed by the Law Institute of Victoria (VWL principal sponsor) or by a major sponsor firm
is entitled to a discounted fee of $49.50 incl GST.
An Ordinary member who is an articled clerk / legal trainee or a graduate law trainee is entitled to a discounted fee of $22 incl GST.
Associate Membership
Law students and persons supportive of VWL’s objectives and who do not qualify for Ordinary membership are eligible for Associate membership. The Annual fee for Associate members is $49.50 incl. GST.
Associate members who are law students are eligible for a discounted student fee of $22 incl GST.

Attend VWL social events and educational seminars at member prices
Receive newsletters that outline upcoming events
Receive and contribute to VWL's quarterly publication Portia
Access the members' pass-worded section of the VWL website
Participate in a forum for the exchange of views by peer support and mentoring
Participate in VWL committees to shape the law and the legal profession and to represent women lawyers on legal issues affecting women
